In a communications context one does not have to be exact. There are international abbreviations that all radio communicators understand and use but at schools and colleges one does expect the tutors and students to be more exact in their choice of word selection and spelling plus grammar. There are two words currently doing the rounds KINDA and LOADS. Take these two words away from some persons vocabulary and they would be SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would say in a UK context that going back to the 1950/60 period several good O levels would equate to a university degree today. The college that I attended one had to sit 10 O levels and pass all at once. If there was a failure in one subject there was no certificate, this was probably too severe but there were no other options. Changed times now where a subject can be taken bits at a time, perhaps this is more sensible. The French would say the way you walk is IMPORTANT they like a well presented swagger!!

Hello All,

This are fine examples of dyslexia, a far more common problem than
generally known.
It has nothing do to with intelligence as such, as some of the most gifted
persons on earth "suffered" from it.
One example that springs to my mind was Winston Churchill.

Text control won't help much as "there" and their" are genuine English
words.

Reading and writing is a skill just like walking.
You won't judge someone's intelligence by the way he walks, won't you!

Best regards,
Roelof Bakker, pa0rdt

(And yes, dyslexia is part of my daytime job!)
