Mal isn't often to be observed moving his transmit frequency to match the other station, so his QSOs usually take up double the bandwidth than is needed, and on top of that he often operates on 2, or 3, bands at once, and with more power than strictly needed for the QSO in hand. Talk about a spectrum hog. If he's really keen on spectrum conservation he should practice what he preaches - net accurately, ensure correct keying shape to minimise spectral occupancy of his CW signal and utilise the minimum transmit power needed for each QSO. Never exceeding the 1W ERP limit, naturally. At a lowly 12 wpm he must occupy almost 50Hz, how many WSPR mode transmissions could more usefully fit into that space? If, as usual, he hasn't netted accurately, or at all, his QSO partner is also using another 50Hz elsewhere on the band. People in glass houses should put the catapult down.
