Loop info
Hi Mal,
Use a LM741 Op-Amp in place of the OP27. That IC
works perfect with a little less gain. You might already have one in stock
too. There is a board layout and other info for building this loop here:
http://www.we0h.us/505kc/Simple-RX-Loop-Antenna/
That
would save you time on a board layout if you wanted to etch a preamp board.
The .pcb file is a ExpressPCB file of the board if you run ExpressPCB
software.

is
the board in a jpg file which you can print directly. Might take some scaling
but you know the IC pin spacing to scale the board to. Easy. I use the iron on
laser printed image then muriatic acid & peroxide etching mix to do the
job. Quick & simple. A neat thing about this RX loop and others is you can
sit the portable receiver next to the loop with no physical connection to the
radio's loopstick antenna and get all the benefit of the RX loop with no
feedline!!! I have done it many times. I built 2 of these loops as they work
that well.

This
is my portable version sitting in my backyard (garden) with variable tuning
covering 200-650kc.
