On reflection I think Loran A was on about 1930. From what I recall it sounded a bit like multiple bandsaws fading in and out with their relative phases wobbling around like the efforts of a not very good disco DJ. 73 John G3PAI *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 06/01/2006 at 16:00 Gary - G4WGT wrote: Hi John, Thanks for that info, I don't remember LORAN A on 1900khz the only thing I recall is the navigational aid somewere around 1900khz which sent a series of differing frequency tones & was quite melodic but I can't remember what it was called, unless that was LORAN A & not the chattering type of transmission we are used to with LORAN C. 73, Gary - G4WGT - IO83qp Web : http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/wgtaylor -----Original Message----- I doubt that it could be a Loran line. The nearest Loran system infrequency used to be Loran A with a centre frequency just above 1900kHz. Itwas the bane of Topband DXers but was shut down years ago. 73 John G3PAI |
