One other note at this point. I attempted to use a CD4017B, but it just
wasn't fast enough to provide good carrier and sideband suppression. This is
definitely a project for HC or AC logic.


John,

if you want to use 4000 series logic in fast speed applciactions it can beused at 15V. This will increase the speed by a factor 3..4 compared to 5V.
