Hi, Ed, When in USA have permitted beacons 1w and a 15 meter antenna under FCC part 15 (160-190kHz)? This is the only one I can answer, and I don't even know the exact date -- many, many years. But keep in mind that this is 1W INPUT, *not* ERP. The part 15 rules are quite tough. However, many LF beacon operators ("LowFERs") operating in this range have had successes of close to 2000 miles using weaksignal reception techniques (Argo, etc). This is NOT the case for part 5 beacon operators who are allowed much more power....some are allowed up to 1W ERP or more, for example. Hope this helps, Eric |
