Hi Rik,
Sorry it has taken a few days to reply, but it took me a while to find the
article...
Peter Martinez, G3PLX, wrote an excellent article about doppler shift and
the ionosphere, illustrated with dopplergrams in RadCom, May 1998, page 16.

Many other studies seem to draw on his material and I found that a Google
search for "G3PLX doppler" yielded many interesting links to material about
doppler shifts in the ionosphere.
This one looked quite relavent to what you were looking at.

Hello group,

The question is a bit off topic, so longwave-only readers can push the
delete button now.

A friend of mine is interested in QRSS tests on 10.1MHz (30 meter) and one
of the things we are discussing is the longest useable dotlength is on
that
frequency. Apart from TX (and RX) stabilty doppler shift due to
ionospheric
refections will cause frequency instability.
Does anyone have an idea how much Hz the doppler shift can be on 10MHz ?
Is there any info available on the web ?
