ok i get what you are saying....as i am in the US, i was interested in qrss
and the other programs for use on 80m and 160m for lowpower ops and dx. so
my setup would only be on ssb with low power, and i think that with
vfsk/dfcw using one second or less characters would give no problem.

The problem with using a soundcard output to a mic input is not in the
programming aspect, but is a question of efficiency and possibly power
dissipation. Guys who key Class C, D, and E amplifiers have enough trouble
with the duty cycle of QRSS sometimes. Imagine what a linear amp for SSB
might do at full carrier continuously for a minute. It's really, really
much
easier to optoisolate an I/O port and use old fashioned on-off keying in
most
cases.
