There are chips called "bucket brigade" delay lines that will do this job
easily.  Radio Shack and Digi-Key here in the States would have them.  I'd
check MAPLEN (spelling could be wrong here!) using that terminology.

And yes I do know about the methods (that were originally used for electric guitar echo) such as connecting the diaphragms of a loudspeaker and a microphone by using a spring, and also the tape recorder method.
