BTW, Stefan, under difficult conds with low signal strength (which is the case on 630 m) hard keying greatly enhances readability of your CW ! And if you like QRQ, hard keyed CW is really essential f

Perhaps a bit like when ssb stations crank up all controls of their transmitter to crack a pileup. They become louder - and very broad due to poor imd 3. But it seems to help. 73 Clemens DL4RAJ

Hi Clemens! Nice picture! But looking to me like an overloaded rx? I confess, I have no experience with pc based receivers. But I do a lot of CW on 40 m with an old Siemens E311b as rx. Never observe

Hi Christian, No. If a direct sampling rx like - in this case - Perseus is overloading you get a completely differently looking spectrum/waterfall screen,an ADC clipping warning message and you hear

Hi Christian, Yes i know. There are even special circuits to improve the shape of the CW slope, giving better readability. See attachment. 73, Stefan Am 28.09.2013 13:43, schrieb C. Groeger: BTW, Ste

Pleasant to the ears of some maybe, and very annoying to the neighbours. Please, if you have the choice, do NOT use hard-keying whereever possible. 73, Wolf (who thought about returning to MF... up t

Keying can be made sufficiently hard without generating clicks. Instead of the old 5 msec rise time 'rule' make adjusts to the waveform so that the edges are still rounded ... just not too much so. L

Hello Clemens, But for fast CW in my opinion a good agc is the most important factor provided the rest of the rx is fairly decent no matter if it is digital or conventional. No AGC and a decent RF ga
