That's quite well summed up ! and was one of the reasons for the 'Timed beacon software' , each end could run it and still see what was happening on the band.... dont have to be on the same frequency

Mal We're on the same page. Unattended beaconing has it's place, though, for propagation studies. All three QSOs with Finbar started with one or the other station hearing the other's beacon. None of
