Hello Graham, I use them a lot and yes, you can solder the collector tap, which is preferred for better heat transfer. For best contact, I solder both sides of the collector. 73, Roelof, pa0rdt

Ok , Tnx , Roelof, I thought that may be the case, but before doing it , best to ask ... I have a pcb layout (from web) for a mini-whip Ae and after your post , that the bfq19 is a better option, was

Hello Graham. Can you remember the name of the web site where the layout was?, I did my own layout but it was not all that successful when tested on 198kHz S/N improved but no increase in level, alth

Ken, I found this on the web, the pcb is shown in the pdf , looks ok, single sided for the amp .....but may be with double sided board could be more stable , as the op transistor is ok to 5 ghz .. fo
