Thanks to all of those who have listened out for my transmissions over the last few days. Tonight will be the last of my 136kHz QRSS60 transmissions for a while. 73 de Mike, G3XDV ==
The weather is behaving again tonight (Sunday), so I will be transmitting QRSS60 on 136.172kHz, sending my complete callsign starting on each even hour from 1800 to 0800UTC. Power is approx 400mW ERP
Thanks, Joe, that's great! The calm weather has gone away for a while, so I am back using Op32 and avoiding the risky overnight slot. By the way, I am revising the LF chapter of the Radio Communicati
Robert, A good decode on your second attempt. This is my first WOLF reception for over 10 years and my best DX. Well done on the transmission and thank you for a fun evening. 2016-03-05 22:00:48 >WOL
I received part of a QSO using WOLF on 137.630kHz yesterday evening. I am not sure if I missed the end or the QSO did not finish. The earliest relevant decodes were: t:2688 f: 0.479 pm:16869 jm:564 q
Very good signal from Joe last night, with partial copy from 'XIL', too (see attached dawn shot). Mike, G3XDV. == The following section of this message contains a file attachment prepared for transmi
There was some unusual propagation last night on 137kHz. Opera32 transmissions from IZ7SLZ were received well by M0DSZ or several hours but were not receive at all by me. Nothing strange there as M0D
Hugh's advice is excellent - adequate sensitvity, a resonant antenna and good front-end filtering. I would add good dynamic range, an effective noise blanker and ideally a way to reduce or switch off
I used a cheap kite for LF tests as GW3XDV/P several years ago. The first time was a success - 136kHz CW contact with SM. The next time - an attempt to make the first (and only) GW-GI QSO on 73kHz -
Well, I think the clue is in the phrase "signal to noise". The noise level is much greater after dark than in the daytime, especially at this time of year, so for the same signal strength the S/N is
Ordinarily I transmit (and receive) Op32 on 136kHz almost every day, but with the 30 degree weather of the past few days, I preferred not to generate any more heat with my radio/computer equipment. I
Good signal from Joe last nght (21 Jul) from 0130 to 0400UTC, despite QRM from the East. Best signal to noise occurred near UK dawn after sky-wave propagation from the East faded. Mike, G3XDV ==
A good night last night on the 137kHz band in the Opera32 mode. My one transmission at 2300 UTC produced reports from EA5DOM (1472km), SM2DJK (1781), RA1ADF (2096) and SV8RV-10 (2265). I received VO1
Last night, 8/9 Aug, I received VO1NA's Opera32 transmissions on the 137kHz band at 0034UTC (-40dB S/N), 0109 (-35 with just 2% fading), 0149 (-43) 0219 (-34), 0254 (-41), 0329 (-38), 0404 (-37 with
The wider bandwidth seen on OPDS may be key clicks but I have found it can be caused by a non-coherent signal, ie the 'oscillator' is not continuously running. I found this, for instance, when keying
I will be running some tests today prior to doing overnight transmissions later this week. The tests will be on 136.1726kHz, QRSS60. See DF6NM's grabber (http://www.df6nm.de/grabber/Grabber.htm) to c
The good condtions to Russia were confirmed by Op32 results on 137kHz. I received R7NT at 1818, 2218 and 0322UTC. My transmissions were reported by RA3TGZ (2859km) at 1921UTC and RN3AUS (2420km) at 2
The weather looks to be calm and dry for a few days so from tonight I will be transmitting during the evenings and overnight for about a week. Mode: QRSS60 Frequency: 136.1731kHz Message: "G3XDV" Tim
