MF/160 Metres

On this band during winter months propagation is normally good to VK and other Far East destinations. I have had reports from all VK regions this past few months using WSPR and in some cases JT9 especially to the USA.

Normal CW is also useful at this time of year to work VK, ZL, KH6, KL7 etc ----it has all been done before.

Grey Line time is usually good for the long haul DX on 160, but other times are also good especially when both ends are in darkness

Perhaps too high a freq for this group, but whatever ... Topband used to be called "LF"

As some discussions here a few months ago suggested, propagation to VK on 160m may be good at this time of year (I'm only quoting what someone posted, dunno these propagation things myself :-) So I've been WSPRIng the last couple of days.

The Antarctica station DP0GVN turned out to be a doddle; copied me many times at a distance of 13Mm - in fact on most transmissions for several hours.

But was delighted to see last night, that my WSPR signal made it to VK3JJ - just the once. The only other station from Eu that was copied being G3ZJG the day before.

These are the best Dx uniques . There's an extraordinary gap between 8000km and 13000km.
