Course. it occurred I didn't actually answer your question: The standard PICs have maximum Fosc of 20MHz, so Fclk = 5MHz. Not really suitable for any direct generation task aboive a few kHz Its really not worth trying to do a third rate bodged job just to try to get a source on the cheap. I know we're radio Amateurs, trying to do things simply, but nice modern synthesizer chips, even Fract-n ones, cost peanuts these days, so there is little point even trying to do some makeshift cack-handed thing that generates sidebands and spurii all over the place.
