Joy sticks are no substitute for the real thing
Not at my QTH anyway, no noise around me so plenty of wire airborne works for me.
I am able to hear and see more than the others. It does require effort though.
Very little DX escapes me

Actually Mal some of the rx dx records both on LF and MF have been with pseudo high Z Joysticks a la Wet Match Sticks. I see recall the Joysticks PW adverts for them for HF!
My best performers here are W1VD AMRAD/L400b/PA0RDT nest of Eprobes up various trees both of MF/LF but as ever very much location and noise source dependent, which together with having the real estate available... not so much here.... I cant go up above tree height cos I would hit landing aircraft, or more likely they will hit me...
My near quarter wave for 475 inverted L typically (typically cos it varies on wave angle and noise source type/bearing at the time) doesnt afford better s/n over a well placed wet match stick most of the time, nor is the 10ft 30T passive loop nor 10ft diam active loop better - hey my ground resistivity/perm is dang poor here sitting on glacial till..
Looking forward to the day on seeing you coming in over the Pole Mal. Youve not managed to hit here in LF/ 475 MF yet but know you had a good signal here on 160; Its not been favorable so far this winter...
Best 73 for the season
