Hello Stefan, Mike,
I assume that a good working dipole at very low height (4m = 0.6% of lambda) is
due to a poor soil.
I remember to have read somewhere thate (French?) military in the Sahara desert
just put a dipole antenna on the sand on top of a dune and it worked fine.

Well at least on MF i have tried a pure horizontal full size dipole. It
was 4m above ground and i worked DL4YHF and some other stations with 50W
TX power in July! This antenna was hung up into trees near a walk way in
a forest.
So if someone has the place, i find this is a real alternative. I just
don't care about theories or calculations. Just do it instead! :-)
