Dear Group, Yesterday I noticed that when the power was increased above 2 watts, the SWR shot up along with the drain current in the Class E TX. Noting a 6Meg and slowly increasing resistance across the coax, moisture was the suspect, but checking the splices and redoing them was a waste of time; putting a 50R load at far end confirmed the problem was elsewhere. The powdered iron core matching xfmr between the coax and the tuning coil was replaced and now all is fine with 50 watts to the monopole. The TX is QRV 12 WPM until 1000 utc tommorrow or the until new xfmr starts to misbehave. QRG +- 2 Hz or so. Reports are most welcome. 73 Joe VO1NA |
