Is  that  funny  Ha Ha  or  funny  Peculiar  ?

correlation  requires  a  single  phase  continuous  carrier
so  4  carrier  switching  1.5  hz  or  what ever  is  not  a  single  carrier

therefore  wspr  is  not  suitable  for  decoding  by  correlation

Funny, i think we can continue with this discussion endlessly :-))
A running gag.

Not suitable for what?

There is only   'one'  Opera  ! there  is  no  other  single  carrier  on/off  data  system

Yes  , Markus  has  designed  a  secondary detector  that  acts  as  a  pattern  recognition  system , for  best  results  , the  qrg  needs  to  be  as  stable as  possible  , wspr  uses   4 carriers  , so  not suitable  and  conventional  qrss   has a  limited  number  of  transitions

Opera  sends  256  bits  in each  tx  cycle  , which  can be  detected  earlier  than the  main decoder  , that  is  extracting  the    call  from the  received  data   as opposed  to  pattern  matching  , 'a  software  bombe'

Using  the  long  Op coded tx  signal  , now ,   gives  a  3  way  split , the  65 min tx  time  produces  quite a  sizeable  block of  data  to  post-process

1... Normal   decode  with  Op software ------round  -43 dB
2...qrss   grabber  trace  as  line  on qrg...... ??
3... correlation detection  .......  -50 dB ??

With the  advantage  of 50% duty cycle  ..
