I have not noticed any mismatch but during normal operation I would not know whether they are there or not.

Now this I have done with 300watts  :-)) but it appears that the birds do not feel anything as the do not even twitch or fly away.

I've never seen any birds sitting on my antenna, somehow ;-) Would be interesting to see what happens when the TX starts while some are sitting on it. The automatic variometer would indicate L- for a short time to find the resonance peak i guess ;-)

I am being bothered by lots of starlings perching on my HF/MF top load capacity hat & messing on everthing that happens to be below in my small garden, ie. the washing & windows etc, which really annoys my wife.

 

Does anyone use any form of bird deterant with any success ?

 

I have heard of model Falcons  perched on the antenna but does it really work ?
