Finally you are back to your full performance Mal. I already thought you were getting older and quieter :-)

Now let's enjoy the party. BTW what do you think about a nice WSPR night on MF? You could go to bed early as usual and check the database the next day :-D

MF PROPAGATION
The optimum time on MF for UK/USA is USA sunset on 600 metres and 160 metres,  this applies to East Coast USA and spreads across North America as the night progresses until the Optimum time for the UK to work the Pacific coast USA is UK sunrise.
This is the general picture and I have achieved good results over the years on both 600 and 160 metres on CW in QSO MODE
It is interesting to watch and hear through out the night  the various States appear going West as their sunset approaches.
I also understand EI0CF has worked the East Coast USA on 600 metres SSB
This DX excitement is not possible on Unattended Beacon Bashing ---- A boring mode I would say!!

MF,

Last night there were 5 US stns copying me on 630m in WSPR. There is an interesting difference to LF, regarding times of best SNR. The best SNR ich achieved during the local sunset in the US, not to the time of my local sunrise here in DL.
Bests SNRs of the 5 stations are:

Timestamp Call MHz SNR Drift Grid Pwr Reporter RGrid km az

There were no dramatic changes in DST and K index during the night. However we may have to go on with the tests to confirm that observation.
