Hi Stefan, Setup here is fairly straight forward. MiniWhip @ 5m height, 12m away from the house. RX is a Perseus. QTH is on the southern edge of Harrogates residential area. Noise level here is actually quite high. Most of which is radiated from the house wiring. I've experimented with various ways of reducing this noise over the last 4 years and the best seems to be isolating the main feeder at both ends. The Miniwhip is powered via a solar charged battery and a good earth at its base. The difference with and without the above is 20dB! This makes the difference between hearing nothing, and almost everything HI! Isolation transformers are 7 bifilar turns on a BN-73-202 core. Since you are plotting consistent data, please ignore any reports from last night as one of the isolators was in use on another project. Those received during the daytime today and forward are OK. I shall leave everything running so you can gather as much data as you need. 73, Lee M0LMH. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Stefan Schäfer Sent: 05 September 2012 16:38 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: LF: MF acty Am 05.09.2012 17:19, schrieb Stefan Schäfer: > [...]but as soon as the sunrise comes, no signals are detected in the > UK while the levels are 25 dB above the decode limit in the night. Ehm, no, i've concentrated to much on the plot of G0KTN while writing that. M0LMH even get's daytime decodes on the lower limit, maybe having a somehow better RX-system+location(?)... 73, Stefan |
