Ok That  would  explain  the  situation

A quick  fix  could  be  to  run the Op software   , which  should  register  your  locator / call   in the  data  base, then  range  calculations  should  be  correct ...... or  simple  run the  software  with  'NO'  radio  attached  , so  the  web beacons  are sent and  you  would  receive  your  decodes  directly ?

Yes  have been  watching  the  progress of your   correlation  system , the  Opera  system  is designed  to  be  used  with  normal  tx/rx  and  in place of the  CW key , so  technically  the  designer  was  blindfolded  and  could  only used  one  hand !

Jose expects  a  s/n  improvement  of   6dB  , that's  6  dB  less  , from  a  change  to the  modulator,  I think  PSK   is his  choice , but  then  as  you  can  see  , many  stations could  not  then  send  the  mode , Op detection  is  also  single  pass  , He had though  of changing  to  psk, but  that  would  of  cut  most of the  MF/LF  station's   out of the  script  !

But  if  you  can  extract  another  10 dB , then  this  looks  good  for  Stefan's    VK or  Bust  game  !  ....... and  OP4 Hour  , 8KHz  audio  , that  would  be a  interesting  challenge , could   the   system be  used  at  8KHz to  give  extended  range to the  Dreamer band  ?

Thanks Robert and Graham.

Being a bit of an "Eigenbroetler" I decided not to use the Opera software from Jose Ros but rather make my own. Thus there is no internet broadcasting when I transmit, and PSK reporter apparently assigns some wrong default QTH to incoming reception reports.

My little transmit software (including sources) is on
 http://df6nm.bplaced.net/opera/
and Wolf's sound utilities can be found in
 http://www.qsl.net/dl4yhf/soundutl/sndutl_e.zip

If you want to use it, you have to generate an Opera 110... sequence once for your callsign by typing
 opgen df6nm >opera.txt
into a DOS box, and expand it to an opera.dat file containing 16 IQ-samples per symbol using
 optxtdat
Then to start a transmit session, type
 start sndoutpt /sr=12000 /dec=6144 /fc=2070
which opens a tiny SndOutpt window and waits to be fed with an IQ data file. The upsampling factor dec is 750 times the dash length in seconds, and should be 6144 for Op-32 or 1536 for Op-8 mode. The desired audio frequency fc can also be edited at runtime. Finally the transmission is initiated by
 copy opera.dat audio.dat
A nice feature on the side is that the dashes will have smooth edges, which minimize keyclicks when used with a linear transmitter.

I'm still working on the receive side, and the first results using coherent correlation have been very promising.

Well, I think DF6NM is also confused as to why he is located in the UK
.... all we can ask is that Markus checks the qra locator entered into Opera
and if this is correct, then ,will have to flag this up to Philip / Jose (PSK
Map)for investigation

The Phantom (of the opera) Tx spots are to ensure Rx stations are showing
on the psk-map 'before' any decode is made ... a handy check as often you
could be the 'only' station on the band and with 32 mins tx cycle , its
nice to know there is someone at the other end !

but it seems that some other stations also report that locator. In addition,
PSK-reporter is reporting many decodes of my own call. However, I was not
transmitting nor did I activate the Opera beacon function. May be someone can
explain, as I am relatively new to Opera and PSK-reporter.
