In my professional life for Pye Telecom and Philips I designed intrinsically safe PMR portables and hard work it was too meeting CENELEC (as opposed to Factory Mutual) standards. These days I believe they are more closely aligned.

Can't imagine you running QRP Mal, HI.

I havent listened over the Pole for a couple of days as we have being seeing nice Vivid Green wavy Auroras just North of here and not seeing a lot of Eu over the Pole on HF which is a bit of a give away. But Loran was clacking away at s9 from the West this morning - it dissapeared completely over mid summer.

Still, G is coming over the Pole on 14 today so Ill open up two instances on 136 tonight at OP8 and 32. Note that any opening to Eu would be fleeting at around 0400 GMT -
John BDQ must have hit me around 20 times last night at OP8 so the nights are drawing in and condx are slowing improving until the next "whats poured out of a hole" arrives...

Mal - you are going to have to go down to Intrinsically safe levels, of say<2W of you may end up a little chard...  Id be more worried about the DC3 falling out of the sky. Weve lost of few of these this year from our local airport http://www.airplane-pictures.net/airport.php?p=1227
