Who needs 500 when you have a BlackBerry !!
What ever happened to the 9 Khz dreamers, has that fizzled out as well. It's not looking good for some.

Let's hope they don't take Mals opinion for all of us and decide not to bother with a new allocation!

MF
The RSGB es OFCOM slow off the mark this time. Except there is a news flash,  29th Feb is the last day.
I am not in a hurry since there is virtually no CW acty anyway at present and 160 metres is going strong with plenty of CW DX
136 Khz is not much better if one is looking for a CW QSO. The only acty is BEACON mode QRSS or DATA
This band has gone completely to the DOGS compared to what it was like some years ago with 35 countries active almost daily and all on CW

With no specific directions from Ofcom what are we expected to do after Feb 29th, go QRT on 500 kHz or carry on as usual?

Hi Mal.

I sent an email to Ofcom last week and received a standard reply quoting WRC-12 as follows.

Dear Mr Wright,

Thank you for your email, the details of which have been noted.

The current Notice of Variations (NoV) issued to your call sign M0KHW, for operations in the 501 – 504kHz band is due to expire on the 29 February 2012. This date was set as it would be after the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) World Radio Conference (WRC-12), when the outcome of WRC-12 Agenda Item 1.23 would be known.

The conference concludes on 17 February 2012 so we will most likely expect information on the outcome to be added to the Ofcom website at http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/radiocommunication-licences/amateur-radio/licensing-updates/ after this date.

We hope that this helps.

Kind regards

MF

Does anyone know if the current NOV for 500 will automatically be renewed as last time. With only a few days to go the news seems scarce. Ofcom is usually on the ball well in advance with such matters
