Ive got to be honest and run Wolf via a TS870, HB (VK5BR) transverter with 10MHz IF, squarer. then into a Decca 1Kw PA on 136kHz  - the shaping, waveform and sideband clicks werent that "bad" but I wasnt competing with any one local (that I know of) and didnt receive any comments - no blowing up of the Decca modules either from memory - in fact it kinda looked like it liked it, but obviously better to use a linear or reclaimed shaping source. This is the set up I used to have a WOLF qso over a long base line as WD2XDW a number of year ago with WD2XES.  Ill have to look back over my files as Im sure I took a spectral shot plus or mins 50Hz. I also used the Hafler P at that time but Im pretty sure the Modded Purple Decca was used.

I think the  wolf  mode is  psk  based  and requires  a  linear TX ,  there  are  of  course mfsk  and  o/o modes that  may  may be  suitably  adapted  for  direct  use ...
