Stefan - the path has, to date, never opened up pre AK dawn - but I indicated a week or so back given the levels of HGA22 that it may be possible - Give it a try - ill ensure it stays on LF till I get up there at midnite local tonight. The AK snapper should flick between the 172 window and HGA 22 -every 10-15 mins or so with quicker updates on the 136.172 window.

The opening to Eu last nite was short at 0400-0500Z and didnt get a lift pre Eu dawn so it didnt get any better  - the Proton numbers keep on going up and down and with other higher modal paths (see explanation/propagation forecast on the excellent G3NYK web site)  being open is causing very deep fades on the multi multi hop. Dang Protons.

Ive built a 50 ohm in and out 10 pole BPF for 100-200kHz which appears pretty good and will be shoving that in a switchable line so I can improve the R75 noise figure by using a new LNA. Ive a new MW bcast station a couple of miles away and together with blow torches on 550 650 700 750khz  is producing unwanteds' - hopefully this will knock it off as I should be in the -65/70 region at 550kHz with the filter. Snow static has been an issue too as the weather up there has been a little "mixed". I did a flat bandpass so I can check out Lowfers as well at 185Khz as well but still a steep rising skirt. Design modified/stolen from YU1LMs  http://yu1lm.qrpradio.com/BP-LP%20filters%20for%20LF%20%20and%20500kHz.pdf 100-200 BPF, but Im using WIMA caps and binoculars type 43 material for the inductors which improves the loss figures it appears according to my AIM 4170.

See you from Alaska
