Graham,
From Juan's application:
"This Experimental License is required in order to sanction our experiments of
attempting communications between Licensed Radio Amateurs in Miami, Florida and
those licensed in other parts of the world at approximately 136Kc and 500Kc.
These communications are being attempted in CW, LSB, RTTY, and any of the
digital modes such as BPSK.
For this purpose we will acquire from commercial firms, radio
amateurs, or design
and build the necessary transmitting and receiving equipment, including RF
amplifiers not to exceed 500 Watts in output."
However it appears that the application was not too carefully
scrutinized, for example he mentions that he will run 500W output yet
also specifies an ERP of 500W.
Also he requests 130-140 and 495-505kHz with a frequency tolerance of 95%!
