That  seems  to the  situation  all  round ..  may  be a  high  Q  TX ae  produces   a  much  higher  noise  level  than the  long  , low , terminated  beverage  , I now  find  that  Rx using  my  Tx Ae on 500  is  very  poor   compared  to  some years  ago.. but that  was when  the  Tx  was  not  as modified

 

Note  the  loop , directional as  well ? assume  the  min-whip  is  360 deg  ?

I have found the best MiniWhip as it managed to be setup on a tall mast. Probably, the loop gives stronger signal, but it is bulky and demands adjustment in a resonance that it is difficult to make on a roof. Therefore I use MiniWhip
Also I tried to use my tx aerial which has been adjusted in a resonance for reception. The result was worse, than at MiniWhip because there were appreciable and very unpleasant noise, it is probable from pulse power units. :(

I use the aerial PA0RDT design, but in the scheme are applied Russian transistors KP903A (FET lownoise, Pmax=3Wt) and KT921A (n-p-n, Pmax=12 Wt). The current of drain FET is abt 50 mA.
The aerial is on 5 meter mast on a roof of a  building (abt 20 mt hight) in a quiet place near to Moscow.
The receiver is home-made, superhet IF=500 kHz, with  DDS-synthesizer, mixers on bipolar transistors.
