Hi Mal,

Yes he has started about 1545utc but nothing seen here.

You can check his transmissions on his grabber at :-

I fully agree. Even as a simple listener, I like LF and VLF very much for the same reasons :-)

Hi Gary,

But my signal was detected in UK by Paul Nicholson and M0BMU as i used a 100m kite in March, 15th. My TX power was about 250 W and the mode DFCW-600.

Well, if someone can built such a coil and have a better earth connection (than me in /p) and generates a stable carrier in DFCW-6000, this may be detected here in Germany as well! We have no stress, so it doesn't matter if it is DFCW-60 or DFCW-6000.
A QSO may just be possible with fixed antennas. You know, even with > 500W and a 200m vertical, my signal was not detected in CW in 40km distance. But DFCW-3 would have been possible!

The challenge on VLF is just higher and the limits harder. Anyway it is a great feeling to make some distance. On 20m you can buy a TRX, throw some wire out in the garden and work VK in the morning. On LF you have to install a large antenna, build your own equipment, care about the losses and use slow modes. The limits may be 1000km, depending on the station. But a 1000km QSO is a much better feeling than on 20m, isn't it? And not only the distance is an issue but also all the surrounding communication and process (like beeing in the field or in the forest/nature!). Thus, the effort is always worth. On VLF, a 100km reception (e.g. DF6NMs kite transmission out of 180 km distance, last sunday) is even much more special and exciting. Each (personal, not relative to others!) record on that band or reception at all is a great feeling and tastes like the perfect combination of nostalgic radio and modern reception technics :-) Dreaming! :-)

73, Stefan
