The sensitivity must be very high then? Is there a way to filter out the LF & MF mixed signals and clean up the spectrum like we see at 2200 & 600 meters? I tried listening on the 9kc band last night but I had huge noise just below that. I have to figure out what causes that here.

What are you using for an antenna? Is this a soundcard receiver? USB or card in the slot soundcard?

Someone will have to convince Mal to get on the 9kc band as he has lots of space for big antennas...hi hi

Pretty cool reading about those two fellows making 12 & 16km with low power. Might be worth trying a kilowatt audio amp? 9kc tree fires in the news...hi hi

ah, maybe my answer missed your point - the peak in the frequency response is simply due to the preselection filter. Regards, Markus

    Hello Mike,
this is most likely intermodulation from the 9 kHz raster in the
European MF and LF broadcast bands. Viewed in detail, it is not a
single carrier but a conglomerate of closely spaced lines, probably
due to non precise BC carrier frequencies.

What is that big signal at 9.00kc?
