Me, I love real estate and open fields, but at the moment I make do with a hotel room right in the centre of the USA on the priarie.
Mode wise Ill take anything you can throw at me - within reason, and appreciate the tools at my disposal both on the receiver, computer and software and softhead side (local CW decode)
Heres a picture of the PA0RDT and coax choked feed "outboard" from the hotel room window - supported by a 7m fishing pole. Size matters (as does the coax) , but the probe at the end is around 12 inches long...with the "active gate" bit around 8 inches
As you can see the baby bottle has been replaced by a 3/4 inch diameter PVC pipe and end caps/reducer. The baby bottle was looking a little sucked dry! Power for the probe is from a small 5Amp/hr sealed lead acid I got from the local farm store here in the 'lectric fence' dept.
