Self-training = learning something, by your own endeavours Radio Communications = the whole gamut of science & engineering involved in generating, radiating, receiving and detecting signals at radio frequencies. Where does it prescribe that one must pass 2-way messages in real timeto undertake this "self-training"? There will not ever be an end to this dispute, unless we propose TWO kinds of ham radio licenses...License A) Released to all whose main interest is to learn new techniques or experiment old ones, either by building themselves hardware and/or software related to radio communication, where "communication" is to be intended with the meaning of "conveying information at distance", with whatever radio-related mean... let's call them "Radio Amateurs" License B) Released to all whose main interest is to use the radio to talk with other B-licensed persons, usually of subjects of no or very little importance, either by using SSB modulation, or by operating a mechanical switch that interrupts what otherwise would have been a CW (Continuous Wave) carrier... let's call them "Rags Chewers" If the two categories were allocated different frequency slots, with substantial fines in case of invasion of the other slot, then we all could live in peace, without arguments whatsoever... Radio Amateurs with Radio Amateurs, and Rags Chewers with Rags Chewers.... 73 Alberto I2PHD |
