Mal, a "preferred mode" is actually any mode that works in the current circumstances. Please choose your words more carefully, Alberto is one of the few gentlemen on this planet that has given us well engineered, free and simple-to-use tools (Argo, Jason etc.) that enable us to enjoy LF communication over much greater distances than would be possible with plain old CW. Hand pumped CW is fun, indeed, but my definition of communication is somewhat wider that just conveying the digits "599".
