Understand abt your untuned antenna, i think it would be hard to copy me on a tuned antenna when all the noise and static this evening.

Ae   no , not tuned, just  running the  38 ft vertical, lower end 6 ft above ground

insulated ,  end fed to the ft897-d via about  90 feet of  rg213 coax , the ft897

seems to  work quite  well on 500

 

lot of  static but copy  is fine at this  location

I test a SSB beacon this evening on 505,5 kHz USB.

Power is abt 1W ERP and there is also a CW id include....

Reports are wellcome.
