Gary,

Didn't know you could run usb with dos 6.2 ? ...

I run the ft897-d with a usb to what i assume is a rs232 adaptor , it connects usb to the rig directly with a min din plug  came from ebay ~ £10 , only problem is , it jams 4 mtrs with a carrier on one of the fm channels .. I think it needed a driver to  be installed , it shows up as a 'com' port , other than that I have a pci / 2 com port card as well one feeds the pk232 and the other acts as the t/r switch for data modes .. for some reason the mother board com port would not communicate with the pk232

Hi Gary,

Should work.

My PC has zero RS-232 ports so I have to use them!

Hi All,

This may have been asked before.

Will a USB to RS232 adapter work OK with a transceiver RS232 hardware interface. My PC has only 1 RS232 port & no empty PCI slots.

73,

Gary - G4WGT - IO83QP.
