Hi David

I've used JT65 to listen to cloud backscatter as well with a small laser
radar system I built.  If only someone else out here had such a rig :-)

Hi Scott / Gary.

I have tried JT65 and some early versions of the mHz bandwidth modulation systems using soundcards and lasers. Unfortunately the soundcard program, which was presented a couple of years ago at a microwave update by its US originator, suffered from drift in the soundcard reference oscillator.
At the time I wondered if the system would work for LF, but given the problems I encountered with the laser, I didn't try to adapt it.

Although I do have a 20mW laser TX, I can't try any cloud bounce from here as my QTH is only 5km from Heathrow airport.
