Hi Rik, Marco, Andy and any others who asked about the ts850 mod
The info came from Bob Vernall ZL2VCA
and yes, it does seem to fool the synth into thinking it is still in receive.
The output (via the transverter socket) is less than a volt - hence the PA.
I feed a positive voltge into the transverter socket from the PA to activate the
changeover relay inside the ts850.

Make that 4! I've modified my TS850 to generate SSB at 500 kHz and use a homebrew linear PA to produce 30 watts peak RF.
Have been off air for a while during a shack rebuild and broken aerial but am back in business.
