W1VD and I have used Micrometals iron powder type 2 cores in low pass filters at 137 and 505 kHz. I had trouble with heating on type 3 cores, but the greater number of turns needed for the type 2 fixed the issue. Here's a link to Jay's setup: http://www.w1vd.com/LPF.html John Andrews, W1TAG |
