I thought amateur radio was about exchanging information in real time by
sitting at a radio.
Others think beacons and email or telephone reporting is amateur radio

It is difficult to justify the continued allocation of 500 khz to the radio
amateur service.

I like to chat on the band when I can find someone who is sitting at the
radio rather than beaconing the band to death. Mostly beacons over here
also. I have chatted with 3 people on the band so far in 2008. Maybe
