Ok Rick
Well , there is a qso mode for wspr .. its on the download site .. but ive
not had a look at it yet...
On the rx tune ... ok ... its a little confusing as the dial frequency is
normally given ... however . the audio tone frequency is the differance of
the carrier and the dial frequency ... I have set 10.1000 and 10.101500 to
give me a true 1500 tone , the exciter is set to 501.5 usb ..
CW reception .. I don't know if the system works in either sense .. ie tx
set usb and rx set lsb ....However as long as the bfo is stable and on the
same side as the usb filter carrier insertion oscillator you can use the
narrow cw filter as the shift is I think 2 Hz !
Assuming your cw filter is centred on the IF pass band ... ie dial
frequency ..... if you tune to a known signal with the filter 'in' (zero
beat) with the rx audio fed to say 'spec-lab' set the bfo to 'on' and vary
till the beat note shows 1500 hz on the analyzer
Re set your dial frequency to 503 Khz 'dead' and the recovered audio will
be cantered on 1500 hz ....
nb-- due to the 'extreme' (for want of a better word) audio processing ,
signals within the audio pass band will not affect decoding unless they are
on the same frequency ... unless they are blocking the rx
Hope thats ok ?
Tnx - Graham ..

Hi Graham,
right now your signal coming up, weak but audible with CW filter.
As I just downloaded & installed WSRP I followed the instructions that
say receiver in USB at -1500Hz of the desired RX frequency. That
worked well with the SSB filter (despite the awfull noise at 2700Hz
bandwidth).
But the instructions are "basic" as is the help function.
If it would be possibe to decode at 800Hz audio I could use the CW
filter and win a lot of dB's.
As I understand WSPR seems a "monitor mode", any option to make a QSO
(ie. exchange reports)?

Hi Lf ..
Running K1JT WSPR beacon 20 % tx
Carrier frequency 503 KHz
Dial set 501.5 Khz usb , audio tone 1500 Hz
Running approx 75 watts to 35 ft top loaded vertical ,
(If the pa trips beacon will continue at -14 db level)
Reports welcome
