Do you mean the type with copper-clad steel wire inside?
In that case yes - it is very good. Lightweight and has good strength. Needs
replacement from time to time depending on air pollution levels as the copper
layer is fairly thin. When/if the steel core is exposed to the elements it will
break within a short time. Be careful when stripping off the plastic insulation
or leave it on if you can manage the extra weight for very long lifetime.

In Finland it is hard to buy these days but scrap rolls can be had for almost
free from the local telephone workshop. A bag of coffee-bread can do wonders on
a Friday afternoon ;-)
Can you simly ask for scrap wire from a decommissioned line?
