This grabber is not reliable. I do not see G acty either not even my own
signal when in fact I am getting good reports inter UK and xband from
EU.
It is too far north away from the majority of G acty. The RX antenna could
be the problem.

Yes, I do check the Shetland grabber - don't normally see that
much G activity though. An east coast US grabber would be nice - unfortunately
most of the east coast stations also do quite a bit of transmitting making
even part time grabber operation problematic.
Will be keeping an eye open for T/A signals.

Hi Jay,
You'll be able to watch all the European activity in near real time via
the grabber in the Shetland isles. Obviously narrow bandwidths work
best and although beacons are generally at the 503.5 to 504k section of the
band, there are still a few station who presumably using crystal control who
are further down the allocation.
Any signs of life on your screen can be quickly checked against:
Unfortunately there seems to be no equivalent on the East coast of the
USA or in VO1 for us to see if our signals are making it over to you. So
it's a little more hit and miss for us. - But with a little effort I'm sure
a two way TA contact will happen fairly soon.

Mal...and other T/A enthusiasts
I'm interested in additional
W / EU contacts on 500 kHz. To date the only
station I've worked is
Finbar ... albeit on three occassions. It would be
helpful if those
interested would run periods in beacon mode (normal cw
speed) so that
I can listen for your signals. If I can hear your station,
you should
be able to hear mine...with the higher ERP from this end.
Setting up a
sked for a particular night at a particular time is unlikely to
produce a QSO - conditions vary widely from day to day, hour to hour
and
even minute to minute over this path.
