Following Laurie's comments re: AGC action on my grabber display I've 
turned the RX AGC OFF.

The band is quiet at the moment (1030z) with only DI2AM and G0MRF 
visible.

I've set the RF gain to 73% and the waterfall looks "normal". I'll try 
to keep an eye on it as night time conditions arrive and signals 
increase in amplitude. Hopefully the "AGC OFF" settings will allow 
better monitoring of weak signals when the DI/OK beacons are strong 
enough to drive the AGC, were it left on. Fine tweaking of the RF gain 
setting might be necessary later to optimise the dynamic range.
