Hi Mal, Alan,

 Thanks for the information on the Decca tank circuit Litz. I have a feeling 
that the cotton insulation absorbed a lot of moisture and that is what caused 
it to flash over.  I have completely rewound the transformer using teflon 
covered wire, I hope that is sufficient!

Hi Mal thanks for that !! I had a feeling that somewhere I had heard that "proper" Litz was "bundled" in powers of 3 ...i.e 27, 81, 243, 729.........The Rugby GBR coils were 6561 strand, and about as thick as your wrist.

The litz wire on the larger loading coils, of which I have two is much better because of the plastic insulation. It has 729 strands if you count them !!
