Thanks for the information on the Decca tank circuit Litz. I have a feeling
that the cotton insulation absorbed a lot of moisture and that is what caused
it to flash over. I have completely rewound the transformer using teflon
covered wire, I hope that is sufficient!

The litz wire on the larger loading coils, of which I have two is much better
because of the plastic insulation. It has 729 strands if you count them !!
