I replaced the Kenwood's internal 20 Mhz oscillator with an
external ovenized standard which uses timing information from
the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite network. That
improves short-term stability and holds the frequency to a
tighter tolerance than the original oscillator. Useful for
some of the digital modes.
