I thought of that once before. I'll check 'em out the next trip to town.

Mike,
Save your money. Buy a telescoping paint pole from Home Depot and lash the 20' fishing rod to it. That way you will have a 33' pole for much less money, and it will be stronger too.

Hey Warren,

Thanks for the heads up. So it appears that it is just like this Black Widow 20' telescoping fishing pole I have here. It is also tiny at the end with one eye at the end. I had bought it years ago to build a Saint Louis Vertical and never got around to it. Guess I won't bother spending a hundred bucks on a weak pole.

Thanks a bunch,

Mike

Mike,
I bought one of those DK9SQ telescoping masts a couple of years ago. Yes, its very light but also very weak The top section is maybe 1/4" diameter. I was able to (just barely) get it to hold up a 75m dipole made up of #20 insulated wire fed with 300 ohm tv twin lead, I used fishing line instead of rope at the dipole ends. I used the mast as a center support, and it still bent a bit under the weight of the very light dipole. Also, there is no locking mechanism on the telescoping sections, to prevent it from collapsing on itself I had to put a piece of tape accross each of the lower sections.

Thanks Dex. Interesting other stuff on that page also :-)

Do you know of a supplier of those fibre glass telescopic poles in the North America? I sure would like to buy one. They sound very useful.
