What does the dial say. ? Stations or
wavelength ?- That often gives a clue about date
and country of origin.
Is there a wave-band change
switch?
The two symetrical pins are the heater; that
spaced out on its own should be the anode.. Heater could be 2v or
4v.
Do any of the valve holders have an associated
flying lead which would reach a top-cap or side-terminal on the
base?
Are there two lots of leads for
batteries?
or a mains lead?. If a mains lead then one of
the 'valves' was a barretter (voltage dropper )
Loudspeaker or headphones?
It is of course a TRF Rx. . Does the tuning
condenser have one or two sections? If two then one of the valves was RF amp.
Daintily wipe away gunge on chassis you may find valve type numbers printed
under gunge.
It is not 100 years old...valves not available
then.

Subject: LF: PORTADYNE
Hi All
Has anyone ever heard of a vintage radio called a
PORTADYNE. Radio maybe 90 - 100 years old. It has 4 valves, which are missing.
Unusual valve bases 4 pin with one pin offset, bases look small. It has a loop
antenna wound around the inside of the cabinet. It has a rotary base plate to
swivel the radio for best reception. The case is the usual polished
wood.
Any help appreciated for restoration work, cct
etc or original box !!
