Not sure if it is the same sort of Litz wire you mean, but I have a few
pieces of cotton (or similar) covered wire recovered from transformers
making up an ancient ultrasonic cleaner. With this I just unwind the
outer covering and using a hot soldering iron just tin the ends
normally. The enamel is self fluxing and the fumes are very potent -
and probably poisonous.
