An
interesting point was that it seemed here as thouh your dot freqquency was
about 0.2Hz lower when the DFCW appeared than the last seen steady carrier
at 1130z. I do not think this is drift at my end as I was running a cal
signal which did not move (I have measure this before and found it stable to
0.1Hz ,which is my measurement accuracy, without going really clever.)

This has been an interesting test. I make the distance just under 900kms to
my location, and I understand todays power was about 10mW ERP. I am sure
some averaging would pull a cleaner signal out of the mush ....there is
plenty of time for that with 40 sec dots.

Thanks for the chance to experiment and really use Spectran for digging down
into the noise on a 'real' weak signal.

Hello Alan,

in effect the DFCW signal source is a XTAL in air, FSK'd by a transistor
inserting
a few pF in parallel. The steady carrier source was an ovenized XTAL with very
good stability. At the moment I have no synthesizer capable of sub-Hz steps, I
have
to FM the XTAL!

I hope somebody else checked the signal. I will let it running until tomorrow
(tuesday) morning.
